I wanted to learn more, gain practical experience in areas I was passionate about, develop myself, and prepare for future work and research.
  • I gained hands-on experience with tasks such as: culturing samples from stool, urine, sputum, and bronchoalveolar lavage; performing quick stool tests and stool microscopy.
  • working with serological assays to titrate and precisely handle species such as Brucella, Treponema, and Echinococcus etc.
  • interpreting autoantibodies and their subtypes, such as ANA, in the immunofluorescence lab.
  • performing acid-fast staining and culture inoculation in the tuberculosis lab.
  • understanding the basics of ELISA, centrifugation, and performing tests in the ELISA laboratory.
  • studying ESBL in emergency bacteriology, classifying cultured samples.
  • learning how samples are processed in the PCR lab, understanding when a sample is positive, and recognizing that incubation times vary by disease and that samples need to be stored for a specific period.
