

Dr. Salih Birhanu Ahmed is a researcher and lecturer at the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (AAiT), Ethiopia. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Karabük University, Türkiye, specializing in composite materials and nanofiber technologies for sustainable food packaging applications. His doctoral research focused on the fabrication and characterization of biodegradable polymer nanofibers, aimed at improving mechanical, barrier, and antimicrobial properties to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly packaging solutions.
Dr. Ahmed has authored and co-authored more than ten peer-reviewed scientific publications, making significant contributions to polymer science, nanotechnology, and composite material engineering. His recent research investigates the incorporation of bio-based fillers and nanoparticles into polymer matrices to create advanced, high-performance materials that align with global sustainability objectives.
With over a decade of experience in teaching, research, and engineering design, Dr. Ahmed’s expertise extends across polymer fibrous materials, food packaging, metal-matrix composites, high-entropy alloys, carbon nanotube-reinforced materials, and lightweight structural design. He remains committed to developing innovative and sustainable engineering materials, bridging the gap between academic research and industrial application.
