Since this was an HR services firm, in this position, I worked primarily as a data encoder of applicant information. I learned to do phone interviews, participated in employee meetings and sat in for external ones. My work at this firm was short-lived due to my travel to Turkey for education purposes.

I volunteered in a summer program where I worked as a math and English tutor to underprivileged kids who need it. In this program, I prepared lesson plans, talked and played with the kids, and formally communicated with the supervisors. I was honored to have been awarded as the best tutor in the program.

I volunteered in this summer program as a part of the awareness raising team. Since a lot of people in Ethiopia -especially those form rural areas- are not very knowledgeable about epilepsy, we worked on getting the information out there with a special focus on bus stations like Lamberet and Kaliti. My task in these awareness drives was mainly passing out flyers and having one-on-one information sessions who wanted to know more. I believed we cleared up at least a few misconceptions and gave the appropriate instructions on what to do if someone were to have an epileptic seizure.
