Key Contributions: • Engineered the motion system using Arduino, 28BYJ-48 stepper motors, ULN2003 drivers, and rack & pinion / lead screw mechanisms for precise vertical dipping and withdrawal. • Enabled real-time control of coating speed via a potentiometer, optimizing coating thickness and uniformity. • Addressed experimental challenges such as adhesion issues, turbulence from stirring, and coating delamination, using iterative trials and solution reformulation. • Integrated magnetic stirrer and heating systems to maintain solution homogeneity (50-70°C) and prevent nanoparticle settling. • Conducted multiple motor trials (DC, servo, and stepper) to determine the most stable and controllable motion system. • Successfully achieved repeatable coatings, and selected samples were submitted for SEM analysis. Outcome: Delivered a functional low-cost dip coater with precise control, suitable for laboratory-scale biomedical coating applications.
