Software Engineering Intern
I worked on the emotional states and humanoid characteristics of artificial intelligence in the Pepper project, a humanoid robot, a versatile programmable robot with strong social abilities.
Pepper, which can be used as a service robot, as a business assistant or as a maid, was developed as a product of @softbankRobotics (a part of United Robotics Group). Pepper is a robot that can read emotions and change emotional states. Its most important feature is that it interacts with people and chooses and exhibits its own reactions according to the behaviors it sees from people. Pepper collects data with its cameras, touch sensors, speakers and acceleration sensors and can react emotionally, such as rejoicing, speaking out loud, sighing, or getting nervous in a dark environment. It adapts to personal tastes and habits because it remembers personal characteristics and preferences. With its mood engine and cloud-structured AI mechanisms, it produces realistic and surprising humanoid reactions. In the department where I interned, I had the opportunity to learn how AI uses text data to understand human emotions, how AI is trained and how emotional analysis is done. How AI analyzes human emotions and changes emotional states is a very interesting area of study for me, I especially focused on emotional analysis and had the opportunity to work on data analysis and model development in the integration of technique and emotion.
