Kudret AVCI

I worked on the tests of slip-critical steel connection, which is funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye, as the subject of my masters' thesis. The tests were carried out in the structural test laboratory of Akdeniz University. At the same time, I worked on:

• Inspected and evaluated existing buildings for structural deficiencies and code violations,
• Seismic risk assessment of reinforced concrete buildings and structural elements,
• Seismic retrofit of inadequate buildings:

-RC jacketing of columns,

-FRP strengthening for RC columns,

-Shear strengthening of RC beams by using steel strips,

-Mid-columns or shearwalls added to RC frames,

-Inspecting, detection and repair of damaged elements,

• Estimated quantities and material costs during project planning to give customers accurate price estimates.

A total of seven projects have been completed with Prota Structures software.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality:

• Made static calculations of Atabey Grandstand and Ayyıldız Grandstand.
• Completed accurate foundation design calculations for weights, loads and other metrics using both manual and digital methods.
• Verified construction documentation to meet client requirements and vision.
• Drafted structural plans using various computer-aided design solutions.

Semazen Wedding Hall (İstanbul):

• Revised of static design calculations.

Socar Aliaga Headquarters:

• Designs of steel structural members on façade and aluminum parapets on the roof,
• Design and calculation of emergency stairways,
• Design and calculation of security buildings and the front-door canopy.

Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Seyirtepesi Urban Forest Park Project: Seyir Tepesi

• Urban Forest, the largest thematic urban forest in Turkey, was built on an area of 405 000 m2 , located within the borders of Pamukkale.
• Seyirtepesi Park holds the title of the largest of 1550 projects submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
• Reinforced concrete, steel, and wooden structure designs,
• Assisted drafters in developing structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD)
• QTO and supervising for contractor company Makroyol A.Ş
• Design of World's tallest Rooster Sculpture made of steel,
• Supervised the structural stability of mountain roller-coster,
• Linear analysis of strength of rock waterfall fountain surface coated with shot- concrete over reinforcement
• 3D modeling and nonlinear analysis of ziplines of 12m towers.
• Stability analysis of wooden structures.

Milas/Bodrum Yacht Shipyards Construction Project for Bodrum Yatch Co-Op:

• A project of about $30 million consisting of steel structural design, drafting, sum of calculations and QTO
• First time working on soil improvement and brings the alternative prefabricated design to the table for feasibility check
• Organized technical meetings and organizing bidding files

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Muhacir Marketplace:

• Steel structure with the overall weight of 1100 tons,
• Connection calculations to meet local building codes,
• Computed resource quantities and requirements to give customers accurate price estimates.

120m and 160m Wind Towers in Cold Climate:

• Steel design, foundation design, anchorage lines

Savings Deposit Insurance Fund of Turkey:

• Budget estimation and QTO of Acipayam Aynes Dairy Products Plants.

Sulayicilar A.Ş - Prefabricated Office Building:

• Designed the structure for construction using various building mediums.
• Drafting and preparation of technical report of the office building.
• Spent valuable effort on design process as it being first individually done project.

Ozcan Andac's Villa:

• Steel design of residence,
• Seized the opportunity of implementing Revit in steel structural design first time for company.
