Sr. Strategic Adviser

• Provide strategic directions on compliance, field offices oversight, and key humanitarian and development interventions;

• Lead partnership negotiations and joint program/project implementation;

• Lead and advise on strategic communication, legal challenges and partnership policy;

• Advise and train senior management on strategic compliance (OFAC, partnership vetting, etc.);

• Oversee and coordinate humanitarian and medical missions to Yemen;

• Trained field on sphere standards, humanitarian principles and core accountabilities, resulting in increased staff capacities;

• Draft and issue press releases on humanitarian affairs as needed/appropriate, improving donor response;

Coordinate with FEMA and first respondents in emergency cases/situations, increasing organizational recognition and support.

• Achieved effective/comprehensive organizational representation resulting in the organization becoming the largest regionally

• Achieved program leadership: emergency operations, finance, HR, security and communication, resulting in excellent programmatic and project outcomes on the ground;

• Achieved effective partnerships and coordination in humanitarian operations: multi-million $ contracts: WFP, UNHCR, DFID, OCHA: food security, livelihoods, shelter, protection, resulting in wider partnership networks;

• Oversaw the training on Conflict Transformation: over 3000 peace and conflict resolution practitioners, resulting in th prevention of armed conflicts ;

• Issued press releases and coverage on the Yemen humanitarian crises[1], attracting more humanitarian funding;

• Designed and implemented an Islamic Relief Yemen strategic communication strategy, improving our strategic networks and partnership

• Contributed to the write up of Yemen Humanitarian Response Plans (2012 and 2013), making it more practical and implementable;

• Served as important country consortium member (Care, ADRA, Save, Oxfam, etc.), resulting in additional project funding;

• Achieved excellent progress through working with diverse teams (i.e. emergency, livelihood and recovery) on needs assessments, reporting and core accountabilities, increasing organizational competitive edge, image and credibility;

M&E/SR. COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER…STTA (short-term technical assistance)

• Designed and implemented USAID funded community livelihood program’s (CLP: over $12m) M&E and strategic communication, internally and externally, resulting in improved programmatic outcomes;

• Made significant contribution to the preparation of a (USAID) Program Management Plan (PMP) and achieved agency strategic country objectives;

• Strengthened M&E unit research capabilities through HQ coordination and field staff training, improving programmatic and project accountabilities;

• Development and dissemination of organization’s communication strategy, containing CLP’s legal framework and operational environment; ensured these were communicated to relevant stakeholders, locally and externally, securing continuous program support;

Authored CLP weekly blogs and Success Stories in the Field for USAID/congressional updates , ensuring continuous budgetary support.
