My duties on the ship;

• Dynamic Positioning Operation: Operating and monitoring dynamic positioning systems to maintain vessel position and heading within prescribed limits, taking into account environmental factors and operational requirements.
• DP System Maintenance: Conducting routine checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting of dynamic positioning equipment to ensure optimal functionality. Collaborating with engineering and technical personnel for system repairs and upgrades.
• Navigation and Watchkeeping: Assisting the navigation team with route planning, passage planning, and bridge watch duties. Maintaining a vigilant watch on the bridge, monitoring vessel position, course, and speed.
• Safety and Emergency Response: Participating in safety drills, including DP system failure scenarios and emergency responses. Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations, including the ISM Code and SOLAS.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate logs and records related to DP operations, including logs of alarms, events, and equipment status. Preparing reports for senior officers and management as required.
• Training and Development: Assisting in the training and development of junior officers and deck crew members in DP operations and safety procedures. Promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Cargo Operations: Collaborating with the deck department in cargo loading and unloading operations, ensuring stability and safety considerations are met during DP-assisted operations.
• Communication: Effectively communicating with the Chief Officer, Master, and DP operators to ensure coordinated vessel operations and response to changing conditions.
• Compliance: Ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to DP operations and safety.
• Equipment Familiarity: Demonstrating proficiency in the operation of DP-related equipment such as joystick systems, position reference systems (PRS), and environmental sensors.
• Emergency Drills: Actively participating in dynamic positioning-related emergency drills and exercises to enhance readiness and crew competency.
• Professional Development: Pursuing ongoing training and certification to stay current with the latest DP technology and best practices.

Navigation and Watchkeeping:

• Stand watch on the bridge, ensuring the safe navigation of the vessel.
• Maintain a vigilant lookout for other vessels, hazards, and changes in weather conditions.
• Monitor and control the vessel's course and speed as directed by the Chief Officer or Master.
• Execute navigational tasks such as route planning, chart corrections, and passage planning.
• Utilize radar, GPS, ECDIS, and other navigational equipment for safe and precise navigation Safety and Security:
  
• Enforce and adhere to safety and security procedures, including ISM Code and ISPS Code requirements.
• Conduct safety drills and training exercises to ensure crew readiness for emergencies.
• Assist in the maintenance and testing of safety equipment, lifeboats, and firefighting systems.
• Oversee the safe loading, stowage, and discharge of oil and chemical cargoes. Cargo Operations:
  
• Supervise cargo handling operations, including tank cleaning, ballasting, and deballasting.
• Ensure compliance with cargo handling procedures, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Monitor cargo tanks for stability, trim, and stress levels during loading and unloading.
• Maintain cargo records and logs, including tank soundings and cargo transfer operations. Watch Handovers and Communication:
  
• Effectively communicate with the Chief Officer, Master, and other officers during watch handovers.
• Update and maintain the vessel's logbook with relevant information regarding navigation, weather, and vessel operations.
• Monitor and respond to radio communication, maintaining clear and accurate communication with shore authorities and other vessels. Maintenance and Inspection:
  
• Conduct routine inspections of deck equipment, ensuring proper functionality and addressing maintenance needs.
• Oversee deck crew in routine maintenance and cleaning tasks.
• Assist in the maintenance and inspection of life-saving and firefighting equipment.
