  • Develop and implement maintenance plans for vessels under his oversight.
  • Monitor, analyze and outline Pollution Prevention Guidelines for vessel machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure all codes, regulations and conventions pertaining to vessel equipment are maintained, updated, promulgated and observed among the Company's Fleet.
  • Oversee and coordinate Ship Stores and Lube Oil Stocks and advise Technical Superintendent, should shortages be observed.
  • Take overall responsibility for Classification and Statutory Surveys as well as for Certification and Maintenance Management of Fleet vessels and shall advise the Technical Superintendent should deficiencies be determined.
  • Coordinate with the CTO, Marine Superintendents, and Technical Superintendents in the maintenance and/or repair of vessel parts and equipment which have direct bearing on Commercial Operations of the vessel. Technical Manager and CTO shall work together to effect and expedite repairs, minimizing non-operational time, without risk to safety or the environment.
  • Take responsibility for the investigation process of vessel Machinery and Equipment Failures, Accidents, and Incidents. More specifically, the:

a. Investigation of cause

b. Measures to prevent reoccurrence

c. Additional training if required

d. Post operations follow-up Determine, implement, and follow-up

the Safe Machinery and Equipment Operations among the ompany's

Fleet.

  • Research, determine, and utilize Suppliers of Fuels, Lubricating Oils and Water (pertaining to vessel machinery), which offer best quality, at lowest cost.
  • Liaise with Company Marine Superintendents to obtain Safety, Quality and Environmental Targets, in meeting Customer Requirements.
  • Visit Fleet vessels under Bare Boat Charter (BBC) oversight, annually.
  • Oversee and resolve all Fleet vessel Defects and Damages in coordination with the Technical Superintendents per all codes, regulations and Company Policies.
  • Evaluate, advise and support the Crewing Manager during the selection and hiring process of Chief Engineers.
  • Approve all promotions of Engine Room Personnel.
  • Prepare and keep track of the department's Key Performance Indıcators as listed in SMS Form and present them in Quarterly and Annual MRM Meetings.
  • Take active part in promotional decisions of all Office Technical Personnel.
  • Control and oversee all Ship Repair Services.
  • Assess and resolve all Communication issues aboard Fleet Vessels.
  • Assess and evaluate communication system proficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Liaise with the Company's CTO for planning and selection of New Building Dry-Docks.
  • Be a member of Company SQE Committee and participate in Company SQE and MRM Meetings.
  • Be a member of the Company ERT.
  • Be accountable for achieving individual objectives.
  • Ensure safe and correct working conditions on board and in the office.
  • Systematically monitor the effectiveness of verification and inspection activities within their group.
  • Lead by example in safety related issues, demonstrating commitment to Safety.
