ST4 O&G trainee

Summary

  • I am a dedicated and highly motivated Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainee with a strong passion for minimally invasive surgery and complex gynaecological care. Actively engaged in continuous professional development, I am a member of the BSGE, regularly attending webinars and educational events to enhance my surgical knowledge. I have successfully completed the BSGE RIGS HUB National Training Programme (Intermediate Stream) and have pursued multiple advanced laparoscopic training courses, including the Laparoscopy SIM Course at Royal Gwent Hospital and a Deanery-organised Laparoscopy Training Day. Currently, I am enrolled in the CCMIG Laparoscopy Modular Course (December 2024 – April 2025), a structured five-month programme that includes hands-on training at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and a final assessment day. My commitment to improving surgical skills is further demonstrated by completing four summative OSATS in operative laparoscopy (adnexal surgery: BSO/Ectopic) and achieving competency in basic gynaecological ultrasound.

Beyond clinical work, I have actively contributed to academic research and quality improvement projects. I delivered a lecture at the Laparoscopy Sim Evening Webinar on laparoscopic sclerotherapy treatment for endometriosis and have engaged in several ongoing gynaecology projects, including the submission of an abstract to RCOG 2025 Congress on alternative treatments for endometriomas. Additionally, I am conducting an audit assessing the two-week gynaecology referral system from GPs, with data collection completed. I have also contributed to a cervical cancer research project, which has reached the data collection completion phase.

I am committed to further advancing my skills in gynaecology while actively contributing to research, quality projects and patient-centred care in the field.

Skills

Hardworking and ambitious, committed to continuous learning and dedicated to going the extra mile to achieve my goals

Keen to further develop my gynaecological surgical skills, with previous exposure to open laparotomy procedures during my training in Qatar, including 12 OSATs for total abdominal hysterectomy, as well as OSATs for myomectomy and laparoscopic salpingectomy

Since moving to the UK, I have actively pursued multiple courses to enhance my laparoscopic skills and have successfully obtained five OSATs in operative laparoscopy

My research and publications, primarily in the form of poster presentations, were mostly completed during my time in Qatar and are obstetrics-focused, as the research priorities there were largely in maternal medicine Since moving to the UK in August 2023 via the ST3 entry pathway, I spent my first year adapting to the NHS system and have now adjusted well More recently, I have begun participating in gynaecology-related research projects, which are currently in progress
