A boutique hotel with 12 bungalows, located in a popular international tourist destination in Turkey. I regularly translated and proofread documents, advertisements, and customer communications, ensuring accuracy and clarity for international and local guests. I also managed reception, reservations, and accompanied guests to their rooms. I communicated with both international and local guests in English and Turkish, and interpreted between these languages for colleagues who did not speak English. Worked during university summer breaks (June–September).
Collaborated directly with Prof. Dr. Muse Oke on a proteomics project; reading, proofreading, translating, and writing lab reports and research articles in both English and Turkish. Supported accurate and clear documentation of experimental data, ensuring the work met high academic standards, and could be effectively shared within the lab and in publications.
As a bellboy at a 5-star hotel, I welcomed and escorted guests to their rooms. The hotel’s clientele was predominantly European, mainly from the UK, so I had the chance to speak English with both second-language and native speakers. This exposure significantly deepened my understanding of linguistic nuance and cultural context. Appreciated by my front desk colleagues for my English proficiency, I was invited to collaborate with the Reception and Guest Relations departments to translate, proofread, and prepare guest correspondence and formal documents. I approached these tasks with interest and care, contributing meaningfully to their workflow while gaining practical experience in translation and proofreading.
